The purpose of this blog is to give faces to those detained in prisons around the world. They are more than numbers that are rarely mentioned on the news, they are brothers, sons, fathers, uncles, cousins, sisters, mothers, aunts, they all have families who are waiting for word.
The current US Administration is not treating them according the the Geneva Conventions, and they don’t think they have to, because as Bush says, they are not POWs, they are “Enemy Combatants.” This is a flagrant misuse of power, and the best way to combat it is to provide the truth about the detainees such as who they are, and what exactly is happening to them.
The CSRTs are worse than any Kangaroo Court, they aren’t even allowed to have defense attorneys present. Oft times the detainee himself does not attend as a sort of protest. They go on whether he is there or not, it really makes no difference. The outcome is decided before the meeting takes place.
