[ACTION] Send a Solidarity Message to a Guantanamo Prisoner

Please find below a list put together by Amnesty International of Guantánamo prisoners to write to. The list is not comprehensive and around 180 prisoners remain. Writing letters/sending cards is one of the best ways of supporting the men who have been held without charge or trial for over 8 years. It is a boost to their morale and reminds them that the world has not forgotten them. Receiving lots of letters from complete strangers can make all the difference. It also sends a strong reminder to the American military that they are not forgotten. Please write to as many prisoners as you can. Perhaps as a group – within a family, workplace, religious group, social group, etc. – you can “adopt” a prisoner and agree to write to them individually or together once a month or every two.

Updated List of Guantanamo detainees to whom messages of solidarity can be sent.

The address for letter writing remains:

Detainee name (ISN No.)
Camp Delta
U.S. Naval Base Guantánamo Bay, Cuba
Washington, D.C. 20355 USA

Please note that for those still detained at Guantanamo, messages of solidarity are more important now than ever. Bisher al-Rawi, UK resident who was returned to the UK in 2007 has recently explained how AI’s letters of support helped him:

“Amnesty, and what it stands for, is a torch of hope; that is how it was when I was in Guantánamo, when I received letters of support through Amnesty. In that lonely cell with nothing but emptiness to hold a photocopy of a letter or a card and read the words on it meant so much. They opened up the walls and gave me hope, and whispered to me: “You are not forgotten.” “

Please send simple, non-political letters of solidarity to:
