The French government kindly agreed to welcome Lakhdar Boumediene to France; Lakhdar talks about his new life in this video by Amnesty International.

After seven years and six months of unlawful imprisonment in Guantánamo, Lakhdar Boumediene was finally granted the opportunity to rebuild his life in France, free from the fear of torture, in May 2009.

European states have openly condemned the illegal prison Guantánamo Bay and called for its closure. There are 27 EU member states, and if each country resettled just two prisoners we would be a lot closer to ending this symbol of global injustice.
