Campaign Update: Mohamed Bachir Released on Bail !!
Cageprisoners received a message today from Mohamed Bachir who has been released from custody:
Hello everybody. It is Bachir Mohamed here.
Thanks for all who wrote about me and helped me. I’m free now and reunited with my family in Edinburgh. I’m very happy now, and I hope this continue to free all innocent people like me who were treated as a terrorist.
I was very surprised by the anti terror police but I knew I am in a just country and where I could find my right to appeal.
Thanks for the judges who understood my case and I hope I’ll be allowed to stay in UK safely. Please continue to support my case because I’m still in bail til to the High Court.
Thanks for all and especially Richard Hayley and Andy and Pauline and
Helene Barbara and also Emma for the Anti Deporattion Campaign. I don’t forget all my friends who helped and especially my lawyer Jacqueline and the advocate in High Court who manged to cancel the flight and deportation. Thanks all.
Mohamed Bachir, Edinburgh.

Please help Abdel Aziz from Algeria who was detained on 12th February in Glasgow. He fled Algeria after him and his wife Karima were threatened and intimidated by Islamic extremists. Karima worked as a hairdresser in their hometown of Burj Manayel . Because of this and her choice to wear western clothing and not to cover her head, she was threatened and beaten by Islamic extremists when she was pregnant with their daughter Yasmine Sophia.
Islamic militants also attacked Abdel Aziz and had his legs broken in a separate incident. Despite reporting the attacks to the police, they took no action and Abdel Aziz and Karima decided it was safer to leave Algeria.
Since they arrived in Glasgow in 2003, Abdel Aziz and his family have settled in well and Yasmine, who was born here, is happy and has started school. A year later because of the stress they were suffering from waiting for their asylum case to be dealt with, Abdel and Karima separated but still had close connections and Abdel has spent a lot of time with his daughter.
Karima was granted Leave to Remain in the UK last year, so if Abdel Aziz was returned to Algeria , this family would be split up which would have a terrible effect on Karima and Yasmine.
Abdel Aziz is so terrified or being sent back to Algeria that on his first removal date (23/02/08) he took all his clothes off to prevent himself being forced onto the plane. His new removal date was for Sunday 02/03/08. And then now he s still detained again in dungavel, Glasgow waiting for his deportation to Algeria on Monday 02nd of June 2008 at 09.45 am, by a British airways flight, from Gatwick, flight number is: BA894JEO ALGERIA,
