NEW YORK: Pakistani delegation comprised of 4 senators met Pakistani Doctor Aafia Siddiqui in dentition center of Dallas, Texas amid stagnant security.
The delegation comprised on Senator Sadia Abbasi, Senator Talha Mehmood, Senator S. M Zafar was led by Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed. A representative of Pakistani embassy in the US was also present during the talks that lasted two-and-half-an-hour.
Talking to Online, Senator Talha Mehmood said that the meeting of Pakistani authorities with Dr. Aafia Siddiqui after a long time with has boosted her courage and morale. Despite illness and depression, he said, she talked in every cordial way. She is under medical treatment of lady doctor after shifting in Dallas from New York, he said, adding that, she was much worried about her younger son Sultan and daughter Maryam. Senator Talha Mehmood further stated that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has expressed satisfaction over release of her elder son.
He demanded US to release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui on humanitarian basis, as the cases registered against her was totally baseless and packed with mistakes. The case of Dr. Aafia Siddique is tarnishing image of US who is raising hollow slogan of Human rights, he said.
Neither there was any case registered against Dr. Aafia nor they had allegations before her arrest therefore she should be released immediately, he said.
Earlier, Senator Mushahid Hussain talking to media men after meeting with Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, he said, we have demanded of US to release Dr. Aafia Siddique immediately. When asked about Aafia’s health, he said, she is in good health and completely in excellent mental health. The morale of Dr. Aafia is high and she denied all the allegations leveled against her.
US should release Aafia Siddiqui because no proof was found against her during the last five years, he said, adding that, the nation would hear a good news about Dr. Aafia.
On the other hand, talking to Pakistani delegation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui said that the allegations leveled against her were baseless and she has no relations with Al-Qaida. She thanked Pakistan delegation and the government for this meeting. It is merit mentioning here that that Dr Aafia has been shifted to the institute of psychological diseases for medical checkup on the directives of the court.
Earlier, the Pakistani delegation was made to under go comprehensive checking at detention center of Texas. The respectable senators were passed through a machine by putting off their shoes and belts of pants. Male security personnel also checked a female senator included in the delegation despite the request of female security officer. The local authorities had made it clear on the delegation before their arrival that they would be checked thoroughly.
