I think you’re going to have to either forgive my lack of posts about Khalid Sheikh Mohammad or else stumble through the sarcastic remarks here and there. All signs point to the media having a regular carnival with this thing. Terms like “self-confessed 9-11 mastermind” are rampant. Did they forget that this man was tortured, waterboarded etc? He “self-confessed” nothing until that happened and he held out longer than anyone else ever has, in training (SERE) or otherwise!
As we all know, you can get anyone to say anything you want using torture, most especially ‘waterboarding’. A note about waterboarding. Don’t be fooled by the media reports about the method. They say a person is put on a bench with a cloth or saran wrap covering the subjects mouth and nose while water is poured over it to simulate drowning.
That’s the polite version. There have been reports of more ‘basic’ methods such as simply dunking a man’s head into a tub of water until the second before he drowns. Hoses being pushed into a man’s mouth until ‘water squirts from his nose’. Many reports, not just a few.
In any case, I can’t bring myself to enable to press in their KSM circus. If I can find credible somewhat rational articles, I’ll post them. Otherwise I think I’ll just post notes.
I wish the press was still about writing straight news, not opinion. Alas…
