…Isn’t part of ‘being in a war’ trying to fight the enemy? If not, if it’s terrorism, then all the troops that have served in Afghanistan are terrorists, right? Oh wait. No, because they were on the ‘right side’. This is such a sham! No one even knows if this man planted any mines!
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) – The U.S. military says it has prepared war crime charges against a Guantanamo detainee accused of storing and concealing anti-tank mines in Afghanistan.
Detainee Obaidullah, who like many Afghans is known by only one name, faces charges of conspiracy and supporting terrorism. He faces a maximum life sentence if convicted.
The Pentagon’s announcement Wednesday brings to 23 the number of detainees selected for prosecution at the U.S. Navy base in southeast Cuba.
A Pentagon official who oversees the military tribunals must approve the charges before dates are set for Obaidullah’s arraignment and trial.
Military records show he is about 28 years old.
