Prove into Suspected Explosive Device in the US Guantanamo Base

Washington, Jan 26 (Prensa Latina) US military authorities investigate today the details about the discovery of a package containing a suspected explosive device in a shopping center in the US Navy base in Guantanamo, in southeast Cuba.

Navy spokesman Mike Andrews at Jacksonville regional headquarters that the Navy had scrambled a special explosives team from Mayport to carry out their standard suspicious package protocol.

The device was found in the main shopping center for the base, known as The Navy Exchange (NEX), which is about 10 kilometers from one of the prison buildings in this military installation.

According to The Miami Herald, the alarm occurred on a week when the war court was meant to be in session to judge several alleged terrorists, who are detained in that base, but canceled in part because of the blizzard that paralyzed portions of Washington, D.C.
