Kuwait City: The last Kuwaiti prisoner being held at Guantanamo Bay detention camp is likely to return home on Saturday, January 9.
A plane carrying security officials and a medical staff will be leaving Kuwait within two days to bring back Fayiz al-Kandari who has been held without charge for 14 years in the Cuba-based US prison.
The US authorities had already informed the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington to provide a plane and finalise measures to take al-Kandari home.
After arrival at the Kuwait International Airport, the released detainee will be taken at the military hospital before referring him to Al-Salam Centre for psychological rehabilitation, reported Arabic daily Al-Qabas.
Kandari would be subjected to ‘security measures’. Post rehabilitation, he would probably live with his parents. He would have to check in with the police, he would be monitored and he would have to turn over his passport and never travel, reported Al Jazeera.
