Notice this statement from the article I just posted called “Amine El-Khalifi, Man In Capitol Bomb Plot, Sentenced To 30 Years”: “Prosecutors say El-Khalifi came to authorities’ attention in part by answering a Facebook post seeking to recruit Muslim holy warriors.”
This is a relatively new phenomenon that is happening all too often on Facebook. There are many people there, some professional, some simply volunteer, all who will create a Muslim profile with the intention of trapping Muslims to turn them into the authorities for prosecution of terrorism related charges, at which point they spend the next week celebrating their “coup” on their blogs. Quite sickening, really.
I mentioned some are professional, and some are volunteer. The professionals are the obvious; they are the FBI and so on. But lately there’s been a surge of “volunteers.” These are people from some of the hate sites on the web. Without going into their motives for this I will simply say that they take it upon themselves to pose as Muslims and then draw unsuspecting youth into their clutches. The volunteers are problematic because they do not follow any rules. The Officials are supposed to follow certain rules. The case has to make it through court, so if everything isn’t done properly the case is dropped.
The volunteers generally have absolutely no love for Muslims at all. On their public profiles you can see them, unabashedly using the filthiest insults about Islam, Muslims, the Prophet, and the Qur’an. So you can see that these people are not very likely to use any sort of ethical rules or honesty at all. I have seen these people use outright lies in order to make someone look bad. I have been told that the FBI doesn’t care for these volunteers much because they “are always messing up their cases.” Not surprising. Yet the volunteers go on, and much of the time the people that they go after wind up being the subjects of investigations by the FBI. Not always, mind you, but enough. I will not say that they are successful, because they are not, but they have been lucky a few times.
Some of the Muslims arrested due to the Professionals on Facebook, YouTube and other online forums include Colleen LaRose, (Jihad Jane), Zachary Chesser (Abu Talha), Ziyad Yaghi, and the N.C. 7 including Anes Subasic, Tariq Mehanna, Daniel Maldanado and many more. In fact Facebook is becoming a big deal in many court cases including divorce! This last August the court ruled that evidence from Facebook is admissible. The feds do admit that they use Facebook to collect crime evidence.
The blogs the volunteers follow and/or run are no doubt known to most of you if you’re Muslim and/or against Islamophobia. They are certainly well known to Loonwatch who does an absolute WONDERFUL job of interjecting much-needed humor into the all too serious reports about the crazy Islamophobes. I encourage everyone to go have a look, they are a great group.
Back to their Modus Operandi; they all pretend to be Muslims. They post pro-”jihad” articles and youtubes of various mujahedeen and so on. They glorify war, they try and make it sound romantic, and they try to convince young people that to be a good Muslim you must be ready and willing to go and fight. It doesn’t matter where, it doesn’t matter when, so long as they go and kill those “filthy Kafirs.” They brag that there are no innocents, so even if innocent civilians die (say at the hands of kidnappers) it is perfectly fine by Islam. (this is, of course, not true.) They do not distinguish defensive jihad from terrorism, and they see nothing wrong with terrorism. Often they praise past terrorist acts. They are easy to spot IF you know what to look for. It’s a pretty good bet, though, that if someone is on Facebook being very vocal about being “pro-jihad” and praising terrorist acts they may well be one of these fakers. They often have controversial figures as profile pictures, too. The volunteers are nearly always loud, outspoken, and use those key phrases a lot. These are actual words that everyone uses, but the volunteers generally over-use them, (Kafir, yahoodi, etc) If you look carefully at their profiles, you can sometimes catch the inconsistencies, but I will not say what or I would be telling them to fix it!
As I mentioned, I did keep a good list of some of these. I still have some newer ones, I still keep track when I can. Above all – BE CAREFUL! Never trust anyone on Facebook until you’ve been able to fully verify that they are who they say they are. Even then do not say anything that could cause any trouble for yourselves or your friends. Remember that Facebook is anything BUT private! Some call it FBI-book. I say it’s the greatest tool the FBI has ever had. Please be careful!
Just use common sense. No one is going to recruit people for “jihad” on Facebook. No one who is active in jihad (true jihad, defending themselves and their people) is going to be on Facebook bragging about it. Please do not fall for this stuff. There are a great many of them out there – I’ve kept track of them in the past, and it is a double-time job! If you fool around with these people, you WILL wind up profiled on my site, Allah(SWT) FORBID!! Of course this is not the place to go into detail so if anyone has any questions about this, please feel free to use the “contact” badge on the left sidebar of my website – http://freedetainees.org
