JI sees no Talibanisation

KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Central General Secretary Munawar Hassan has urged the government to take-up efforts to release Dr Aafia Siddiqui from the captivity of United States.
He lashed on agencies who are harassing the family of Dr Aafia and said that it’s the prime responsibility of the government to protect its own citizens rather giving free hand to agencies to further add to their miseries.
He said that Pakistan had lost its sovereignty and put its integrity at stake by cooperating with US in war on terror. Terming the prime minister’s recent visit to US as a failed attempt, he said that Gilani’s attitude in front of US president was shameful.
He said that no government official during the trip had denounced the US bombardment on Pakistani territories in which hundreds of innocent Pakistanis lost their precious lives.
He said that country was facing crucial situation. He urged the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to decide whether he stands with PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari or with the people. “We understand the problem of Zardari politics of NRO but what was the problem with Nawaz Sharif,” he added.
He said that Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza in his statement said that their were no menace of Talibanisation in the City but MQM chief had been continuously claiming about the threat of Talibanisation.
He asked the Sindh home minister that why he was silent over the MQM’s London plan alleging that through the London plan it started the civil rights drive and wanted to create confrontation among the people of Karachi.
Defending Taliban, he claimed that the Taliban are not the opponents of Pakistan and said that this was the aftermath of removing them from Afghanistan that Afghan President Hamid Karzai daily issuing statements against Pakistan.
He demanded the government to immediately stop the Swat operation and resolve the issue through dialogue. “Due to deteriorating law and order situation of Swat the country is facing uncertain situation and the rulers killing their own people on US pressure,” he added.
War against terrorism is not the war of Pakistan and government is damaging the stability and freedom of the country by taking part in this so-called war against terrorism, he said.
